RV Suspension Upgrades

Four Wide Storage installs RV suspension upgrades that smooth out every mile, so your rig tows quieter and arrives in one piece. Serving Copley, Akron, and Northeast Ohio, without the months-long dealer wait.

RV Suspension Upgrades in Copley OH near Akron

Your suspension is what stands between the road and everything inside your rig. When it isn't doing its job, every bump travels into your cabinets, wiring, and fixtures. Four Wide Storage installs MORryde and Lippert upgrades, heavy-duty leaf springs, shocks, and wet bolt kits for travel trailer and fifth wheel owners across Copley, Akron, and the surrounding area.

Rumbling down the road shaking things loose

Every pothole and rough patch your suspension doesn't absorb travels straight into your rig. One owner put it plainly: rumbling down the road breaks components and jiggles wires loose. Over enough miles, that steady pounding wears on everything you've packed, wired, and mounted inside. A suspension upgrade changes how your rig rides. We install upgrades from MORryde and Lippert, along with heavy-duty leaf springs, shocks, and wet bolt kits. Wet bolts are bolts you can grease, which keeps the suspension's moving joints from wearing dry. The result is a smoother, quieter tow and less wear on the rest of your rig.

Squeaks, sags, and a cabinet full of shifted dishes

Suspension problems usually announce themselves. A squeak over every bump often means dry bolts wearing in the spring eyes. Shackles that look stretched or out of line are wearing out. And if you open your cabinets at the campsite to find everything shifted, your rig is taking more road than it should. Because we also service axles and brakes, we look at the whole running gear, not just the part that's squeaking.

Hardware that won't rust out in two months

One RV owner had a brake and wiring install done at another shop. Within two months the screws had rusted out, and the shop charged to attach it again. That kind of shortcut is frustrating on a wiring job. On suspension parts that carry the full weight of your rig at highway speed, it's not acceptable. Four Wide Storage holds certifications through Lippert, Dexter, and eTrailer. Lippert and Dexter are two of the biggest names in RV axles and running gear. We also service axles, bearings, and brakes, so everything under your rig stays in one shop's hands.

Your first trip of the season hits Ohio's worst roads

Late winter and early spring are pothole season in Ohio. Freeze-thaw cycles break up the pavement, and most early repairs are temporary patches until the asphalt plants reopen. That's exactly when you're pulling your rig out of storage for the first trip of the year. A suspension that's been sitting all winter, with dry bolts and worn shackles, takes those hits at full force. Spring is a good time to have it checked, before the season's first long tow.

Not sitting on a dealer lot for months

“Sitting on the lot for months” is the complaint RV owners repeat most about dealer service. One owner sent a rig back to an Akron dealership, where it sat all winter and went through three different service writers before any work got done. A suspension upgrade shouldn't cost you a camping season. The average dealership service wait runs 34 days. Our NTP Stag vendor network gives us next-day parts availability, so your springs, shocks, or wet bolt kit aren't stuck on back order while your rig waits. You also get a clear estimate before any work starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a suspension upgrade worth it on my travel trailer or fifth wheel?
If you tow often or feel every bump through your hitch, it usually is. Owners who upgrade often say the trailer tows smoother and less shifts around inside on travel days. We install upgrades from MORryde and Lippert, plus heavy-duty leaf springs, shocks, and wet bolt kits. We're certified through Lippert, Dexter, and eTrailer, so the work is done by a shop that knows RV running gear.
What are wet bolts, and do I need them?
Wet bolts are suspension bolts with a grease fitting, so you can grease the joints where your leaf springs pivot. Standard dry bolts have no way to be greased, so they wear out or seize over time. Some MORryde suspensions come from the factory without wet bolts, so it's worth checking. If your bolt heads have no grease fitting, a wet bolt kit is one of the most affordable suspension upgrades we install.
Should I add shocks to my trailer?
Many travel trailers and fifth wheels leave the factory with leaf springs and no shocks at all. Without shocks, the springs keep bouncing after a bump instead of settling, and that motion travels into your cabinets, wiring, and fixtures. Adding shocks is often paired with heavy-duty springs or a MORryde system. Because we also service axles, bearings, and brakes, we can look at the whole setup under your rig.
How much does an RV suspension upgrade cost?
It depends on what your rig needs. A wet bolt kit is a much smaller job than replacing the springs and hangers, and adding shocks or a full MORryde system is a bigger project still. The weight of your rig and how often you tow both shape what makes sense. You get a clear estimate based on your rig before any work begins, with no upselling once it's in the bay.
Doesn't my MORryde suspension already have wet bolts?
Not always. Many trailers ship with MORryde suspension components but standard dry bolts, and wet bolts are often a separate kit. Check the bolt heads at your spring hangers: if there's no grease fitting, you have dry bolts. Dry bolts wear and can seize over time, and adding a wet bolt kit lets you grease those joints every season.
